RICHMOND, Ind. - Three Indiana University East student-athletes earned Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference athlete of the week honors, the league announced April 30.
Red Wolves redshirt freshman Joey Smart (Brookville, Ind./Morehead State University) is the KIAC Men's Golfer of the Week.
IU East redshirt senior Vanessa Legg (Lynn, Ind./Randolph Southern High School) is the KIAC Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
Red Wolves freshman Trevor Tucker (Batesville, Ind./Batesville High School) is the KIAC Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
Smart finished fourth at the KIAC men's golf championship on April 26-27 to clinch KIAC Player of the Year honors
Smart won the KIAC's weekly honor for the second time this season.
Legg was the high scorer at the KIAC track and field championships for the second consecutive year. She won the javelin event with a mark of 110-4. She was second in the high jump and third in the shot put.
Legg won the KIAC's track and field weekly honor for the 12th time in her career.
Tucker won the 100 meter dash at the KIAC meet April 28 with a school-record time of 11.09. He was a member of the winning 4x100 meter relay team with a school-record time of 44.08. He also placed third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.06.
Tucker won the KIAC men's track and field weekly honor for the second time this season.
