
NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The Red Wolves remained perfect at the Challenge.
Sophomore guard Matt Trimnell (Seymour, Ind./Seymour High School) scored a season-high 18 points and junior guard Marcus Isaac (Indianapolis, Ind./Purdue University North Central added 13 as the Indiana University East men's basketball team defeated Purdue University North Central 79-68 in the opening game of the IU/PU Challenge at Indiana University Southeast.
The annual event brings the Indiana University and Purdue University NAIA Division II regional campus programs together for a pair of doubleheaders.
No. 21 IU East is 4-1. The Panthers are 0-4.
The Red Wolves are 5-0 all-time in IU/PU Challenge games.
"I wasn't pleased with our level of play, but we did find a way to win," said IU East coach Mark Hester.
Senior guard David Sanders (Indianapolis, Ind./Beech Grove High School) added eight points and matched his career best with 10 assists.
It was Isaac's first game against PNC, where he was an all-conference selection during the 2008-09 school year.
The Red Wolves conclude the IU/PU Challenge with a game against Purdue University Calumet at 1 p.m. on Nov. 12.
