Red Wolves - IU East

Matt Hinds, a senior at Delta High School in Muncie, Ind., has signed a letter of intent to play tennis for Indiana University East starting with the 2012-13 school year.

Red Wolves coach Erskine Ratchford announced the signing Feb. 20.

Hinds posted a 31-21 over three seasons in the Delta program and earned a varsity letter as a senior.

Hinds is IU East's first tennis signee from Delta. The Eagles won their 19th consecutive sectional championship and finished the season ranked 21st in the state in 2011.

Matt is the son of Rod and Melissa Hinds.

He plans to major in business.

"I felt comfortable with the coaches and players and felt like it was a good fit for me," Hinds said.

IU East is an NAIA program. The Red Wolves open their second season on March 2.

Hinds joins Ethan Taulbee of Camden, Ohio, in IU East's 2012 men's tennis recruiting class.
