The Indiana University East men's basketball team faces Warner University (Fla.) on March 8 in the opening round of the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship.

Tipoff is at 2:45 p.m. (IU East time) in Keeter Gymnasium at the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo.

Warner (23-10) is the No. 15 seed for the 32-team tournament.

IU East is 24-7.

The winner face No. 2 seed Oregon Institute of Technology or Lourdes College in the second round on March 9 at 2:45 p.m. (IU East time).


IU East seeks its first win at the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship.

It's the Red Wolves' second appearance at the national tournament. IU East lost 95-92 against Indiana Wesleyan in the opening round of the 2011 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship.


IU East is coming off of a 96-93 overtime loss against Asbury University on Feb. 25 in the quarterfinals of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament.

Warner fell 77-68 against No. 1 Northwood in the championship game of The Sun Conference tournament.

IU East played Warner in 2009 during the Cincinnati Christian Tipoff Classic. The Royals beat the Red Wolves 68-61. IU East cut a 16-point Warner lead to three in the final minute, but the Red Wolves' comeback bid came up short.


Warner finished third in The Sun Conference regular season standings and was runner-up in The Sun Conference tournament.

The Royals finished 17th in the final NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Poll.

Malcolm Campbell, a 6-10 forward, leads Warner with 16.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.

Warner ranks second in the NAIA in rebound margin, grabbing 9.3 more rebounds per game than its opponents.

The Royals have inside-outside balance, ranking 11th in the NAIA Division II with a .383 3-point field goal percentage.

Warner also ranks eighth in the NAIA in points per game with 83.6

Warner has made three previous NAIA Division II National Championship appearances, most recently in 2003. The Royals have a 7-3 record at the national tournament.


IU East leads the NAIA Division II in wins away from home with 17.


Freshman Huston Clark (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo High School), IU East's leading rebounder with 5.9 per game, leads the Red Wolves' rebounding efforts against a Warner team with three players taller than the biggest IU East player.

IU East is 16-0 when it outrebounds its opponent or is even. The Red Wolves are 8-7 when they get outrebounded.
