
WILBERFORCE, Ohio - The Indiana University East tennis teams both breezed to victories on a windy day at NCAA Division II opponent Central State University.
The IU East men won 7-2 and the women won 8-0.
The Red Wolves men are 5-11 on their spring season. The Red Wolves women finished their spring season with a 4-6 record.
The Central State men are 2-10 and the women are 1-9.
IU East freshman Ty Butler (Wadesville, Ind./North Posey High School) won at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for IU East. He has won 10 of his last 14 matches.
The IU East men have won four of their last five appearances, including an exhibition win April 14.
Courtney Ecker (Centerville, Ind./Indiana Institute of Technology), Paige Froman (Rushville, Ind./Ball State University), Emily Underwood (Milton, Ind./Lincoln High School) and Kara Hayes (Brookville, Ohio/Brookville High School) all won in singles and doubles for the Red Wolves women.
The IU East women won 17 matches over the fall and spring, a 16-win improvement over the program's inaugural year in 2010-11.
The IU East men host Asbury University on April 23 at 1 p.m. at Glen Miller Park.
