Five Red Wolves student-athletes were among the 445 who were conferred baccalaureate degrees during the 41st Indiana University East Commencement Ceremony on May 11 at the Richmond High School Tiernan Center.

All five excelled both in the classroom and in competition.

* Nick Ary (School of Business and Economics, Bachelor of Science) was a three-time men's golf all-Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honoree

* Paige Lay (School of Business and Economics, Bachelor of Science) was a two-time volleyball all-KIAC selection and was the 2010 Northeast Region Newcomer of the Year

* Vanessa Legg (School of Natural Science and Mathematics, Bachelor of Science) was a two-time women's track and field KIAC Athlete of the Year

* Devon Niehoff (School of Business and Economics, Bachelor of Science) was IU East's first two-time men's basketball NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete

* Tyler Rigby (School of Education, Bachelor of Science) was a three-time men's basketball all-KIAC selection and was IU East's first men's basketball All-American.

"We want to produce wins and championships, but producing IU East graduates is really the most important thing we want to do in the athletic department," said Red Wolves athletic director Mark Hester.
