Red Wolves - IU East

Andre Howell, a recent Preble Shawnee High School graduate, has signed a letter of intent to compete in track and field for Indiana University East starting with the 2012-13 school year.

Red Wolves coach Brett Crowley announced the signing June 25.

"Andre is a very talented runner and sprinter," Crowley said. "I look forward to seeing him compete the next four years."

Howell qualified for an Ohio Division II regional meet in the 100 meter dash as a senior. He was the Preble County champion in the 100 meter dash.

He has personal bests of 10.9 in the 100 meter dash, 22.6 in the 200 meter dash and 42.8 in the 300 meter hurdles.

Andre is the son of Mike and Dana Mack.

He plans to major in communication.

"I chose IU East because it is close to home and I feel like I will enjoy my time here," Howell said.

Howell joins Kyle Hall of South Dearborn and Shana Lewis of Tri-County North in IU East's 2012 track and field recruiting class.

IU East is an NAIA program. The Red Wolves won eight events at the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference meet and sent two athletes to the NAIA Outdoor National Championship in 2012.
