Anthony Brewer, a recent Centerville (Ind.) High School graduate and the sectional champion in the 110 meter hurdles, has signed a letter of intent to compete in track and field for Indiana University East starting with the 2012-13 school year.

Red Wolves coach Brett Crowley announced the signing June 27.

Brewer was Centerville's track and field MVP as a senior after winning a conference championship in the 300 meter hurdles and the sectional title in the 110 meter hurdles. He also ran on Centerville's conference champion 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.

He reports personal bests of 15.6 in the 110 meter hurdles, 43.5 in the 300 meter hurdles and 53.0 in the 400 meter dash.

"It's good to have local talent enrolled at IU East, and I look forward to having Anthony make a strong contribution to the track and field team," Crowley said.

Anthony is the son of Marlena James and Larry Brewer.

He plans to major in physical education.

"I chose IU East because it is affordable and because I wanted to run in college," Brewer said.

Brewer joins Kyle Hall of South Dearborn, Shana Lewis of Tri-County North and Andre Howell of Preble Shawnee in IU East's 2012 track and field recruiting class.

IU East is an NAIA program. The Red Wolves won eight events at the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference meet and sent two athletes to the NAIA Outdoor National Championship in 2012.
