RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East men's tennis team opened its fall season with a 6-3 win against the University of Saint Francis on Aug. 23 at Glen Miller Park.

The Red Wolves women fell 8-1 against the Cougars.

Sophomores Ty Butler (Wadesville, Ind./North Posey High School) and Derek Blank (Buchanan, Mich./Buchanan High School) and freshman Connor Kramer (Shirley, Ind./Eastern Hancock High School) all won in singles and doubles for the IU East men.

A sweep of the doubles matches propelled the Red Wolves men to the team win. IU East improved on its 5-4 margin of victory against the Cougars (0-1) in 2011.

No. 3 singles player Emily Underwood (Milton, Ind./Lincoln High School) won in three sets to pick up the lone point for the IU East women.

The Red Wolves went three sets in two other women's matches. It was the first meeting between the IU East women and Saint Francis (1-0).

Both IU East teams host Manchester College at 4 p.m. on Sept. 5.
