FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Indiana University East men's tennis team fell 9-0 at Indiana Institute of Technology on Sept. 19 at Swinney Park.

The Red Wolves are 2-3 on their fall season. The Warriors are 2-0.

Sophomore No. 1 singles player Ty Butler (Wadesville, Ind./North Posey High School) played the closest match, pushing Indiana Tech's Fernando Gonzalez to a third-set supertiebreak.

"The guys played well. The decisive factors Indiana Tech had in its favor were consistency and power, a strong combination," said IU East coach Erskine Ratchford. "We need to play more teams like Indiana Tech to make us tournament tough.

"Even though we lost, we played well. Plus - and this is big to me - we did not give many points away to unforced errors. We made our opponents hit high quality shots to win the points or draw the errors. This resulted in a significant improvement in our play."

The Red Wolves play Sept. 29 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
