IU East finished second at the River States Conference tournament.

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. - The Indiana University East women's tennis team's bid for its first league tournament title ended with a 5-0 setback against Asbury University on April 29 in the the River States Conference tournament championship match at the Freeman Lake Tennis Complex.

The Red Wolves, the No. 3 seed for the conference tournament, finish 15-10. The top-seeded Eagles, who are also ranked 34th in the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches Poll, are 12-3.


* Asbury took control of the match with 8-4 victories in all three of the doubles matchups.

* With IU East needing to win five of the six singles matches to pull off a comeback, Asbury clinched the team victory with straight-set wins on the top two singles courts.


* IU East reached the conference tournament championship match for the second time in program history and the first time since 2011.

* All of the players on the IU East postseason roster are freshmen or sophomores.
