RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East volleyball team remained perfect in River States Conference play with a come-from-behind win against WVU Tech on Sept. 23 on Lingle Court.

Final score: 23-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21, 17-15.

The Red Wolves (9-13) improved to 3-0 in the league. WVU Tech (15-4, 0-1) had posted the best pre-conference record in the league.


* Three big kills in the fifth set from just-back-from-injury Lexi Gentry helped IU East build a 14-10 lead.

* WVU Tech ran off five points in a row to earn a match point of its own at 15-14. The Red Wolves forced Golden Bear errors on the next three points to end the back-and-forth match on top.


* IU East won after trailing by two sets for the first time since Sept. 10, 2016.

* IU East is 3-0 in conference play for the first time since 2012.

* The Red Wolves have won five of their last six.

* Bre Kopke matched her career high with 20 kills and Michelle Grider put away a career-high 16 kills.

* Grider also had a hand in seven of IU East's 13 blocks.

* Samantha Wigfield served three of IU East's 10 aces.

* Madison Yoder had 25 digs to lead five Red Wolves in double digits.


"I'm so proud of us. We had a rough start (in non-conference play) and being 3-0 (in conference) means a lot.

"We just connected really well. Everyone played their full effort, and when we do that, we win. Everyone was doing their jobs and passing well, and everyone was hitting hard and being aggressive." - Michelle Grider
