Men's Golf - Mon, Oct. 2, 2017

LIBERTY, Ind. - The Indiana University East men's golf team completed a wire-to-wire win at its own Harbor Links Invitational on Oct. 2.

* The Red Wolves played two days of steady golf, with a team score of 304 in Round 1 and a 305 in Round 2.

* IU East's "A" team posted four of the top five scores. Kole Schofield tied for second with a 154. Ben Tinkle and Jacob Campbell tied for fourth with 155s.

* Pearson played the front nine of the final round in even par, and then played the last six holes in 1-under par. He had seven birdies in his opening-round 71.

* IU East's previous 18-hole team best at Harbor Links before this weekend was a 320.

* Evan Williams had a 164 for the IU East "B" team. Cody Frame carded a 160 for the "C" squad.

"I'm just really proud of all 13 guys that played this weekend. Some had one good round, and a lot of them had two really good rounds. If you had told me we'd shoot 304-305 for two rounds, I would have been ecstatic. We haven't broken 330 very much on this venue the last few years. That's one of the reasons we play here. It makes us better players. We've got two big events the next two weeks, and that's the whole idea - this course makes us stronger for the two big events to finish the fall." - IU East coach John Gordon

Those two big events are the River States Conference Fall Preview on Oct. 9 and 10, followed by the NAIA Preview Tournament on Oct. 16 and 17. The latter event will be played at at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., home course for the 2018 NAIA national tournament.
