IU East plays two conference matches on Oct. 7.

The Indiana University East volleyball team plays a pair of league matches Oct. 7 at a River States Conference quad-match hosted by Ohio Christian University.

The Red Wolves (11-14, 5-1) face Brescia University (12-10, 4-2) at noon. IU East then takes on Indiana University Southeast (8-11, 5-1) at 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

IU East split a pair of four-set matches at its own River States Conference quad match on Sept. 30, falling against Indiana University Kokomo and beating Cincinnati Christian University.

IU East is 11-0 against Brescia since joining the NAIA, including a three-set win last year.

IU East is 13-7 against IU Southeast since joining the NAIA, including a four-set non-conference win against the Grenadiers on Sept. 1 at the Indiana Wesleyan University tournament.

IU EAST STORYLINES

* IU East leads the River States Conference East Division.

* The Red Wolves have won seven of their last nine matches.

* Madison Yoder is the reigning River States Conference Defender of the Week.

* These are the first of six consecutive matches away from home for IU East.

* Bre Kopke (3.06 kills per set and a .237 hitting average), Danielle Mitchell (9.53 assists per set), Taylor McKinney (0.30 aces per set), Madison Yoder (4.29 digs per set) and Sophie Rogers (0.83 blocks per set) are IU East's team leaders in the standard statistical categories.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION

Brescia and IU Southeast are solidly entrenched in the top four in the River States Conference West Division. The RSC West is 21-13 in conference matches so far this fall.

Brescia had won four in a row before midweek losses against Union College and IU Southeast. The Bearcats rank in the national top 50 in hitting average. Natalie Jones, a 5-7 sophomore, averages a team-best 2.98 kills per set.

IU Southeast's roller-coaster season is on the upswing. The Grenaiders have won eight in a row since an 0-11 start. IU Southeast is 34th in the nation with 1.98 aces per set. Caitlynn Pfaadt leads the Grenadiers and is 37th in the nation with .52 aces per set.

Live side-by-side video broadcasts of all four matches at the Ohio Christian quad-match, produced by Ohio Christian, are scheduled to be available. The broadcast portal will list the Ohio Christian matchup only, but the broadcast will show both courts simultaneously. There is a $7.99 pay-per-view fee for the noon and 2 p.m. broadcasts.
