The Red Wolves will try to serve up another home win Sept. 16 - this time against one of the top serving teams in the NAIA.
The Indiana University East volleyball team will host Huntington University at 7 p.m. at the Richmond High School Tiernan Center.
It's the second meeting this season between the Red Wolves (10-2) and the Foresters (5-5). IU East won the first meeting in four games on Aug. 22.
Red Wolves coach Charlie Brown expects another competitive contest. "Huntington was a very scrappy team when we played them the first time," Brown said. "We got through them, but it wasn't a cakewalk. I expect them to come in a much-improved team. They've got athletes across the board, and they will be a team to be reckoned with because they'll want revenge.
"We just need to make sure we play with the continuity and teamwork and energy and effort we are capable of playing with.
The Foresters have some of the best serving stats in the NAIA. Huntington ranks 48th in the NAIA in aces per game. Foresters senior Alyssa Schroeder is in the NAIA's top 50 in individual aces per game.
The Red Wolves continue to rank among the top hitting teams in the NAIA. IU East is 38th in the NAIA in team hitting percentage. Freshman setter Lauren Crump leads the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and is 26th in the NAIA in assist average with 9.7 per game.
