First all-conference, and now all-region.

Indiana University East freshman volleyball players Breezy Strete (Troy, Ohio/Troy High School) and Lauren Crump (Indianapolis, Ind./Scecina Memorial High School) have been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Northeast Region team.

Strete and Crump were among 14 players on the AVCA all-Northeast Region team. The Northeast Region is made up of the Sunrise Conference, the American Mideast Conference, the Appalachian Athletic Conference and the Red Wolves' Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Strete and Crump led IU East to a 30-12 record, the program's first KIAC regular season and conference titles, and the program's first appearance in the NAIA National Championship.

Strete previously was named the KIAC Player of the Year. She finished her freshman season with a school single-season record 466 kills (3.09 per game) and a .316 hitting percentage

Crump was a first-team all-KIAC selection. She set IU East's single-season and career records with 1,499 assists and led the conference with 9.93 assists per game.

"That's big time," said IU East coach Charlie Brown. "All-region is a huge honor. Breezy and Lauren were two of only 12 freshmen in the whole nation that got voted to all-region teams."
