All-conference, all-region, and now an honorable mention All-American.
Indiana University East freshman volleyball player Breezy Strete (Troy, Ohio/Troy High School) has been named to the 2009 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball All-America Teams, as selected by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee.
The selections were announced Dec. 6."That's huge," said IU East coach Charlie Brown. "Not only to be honored, but to be honored as a freshman."
Strete previously was named Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year. She was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region team for the Northeast Region on Dec. 5.
Strete led IU East to a 30-12 record, the program's first KIAC regular season and conference titles, and the program's first appearance in the NAIA National Championship.
She finished her freshman season with a school single-season record 466 kills (3.09 per game) and a .316 hitting percentage.
Strete was one of 86 players on the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball All-America list.
Azusa Pacific's Jill Baker was named NAIA Player of the Year.
Fresno Pacific head coach Dennis Janzen was named the 2009 NAIA Coach of the Year after guiding the Sunbirds to their third consecutive national championship.
