The Indiana University East men's tennis coach Mike Sherer served up the first signee of his 2010 recruiting class.
Justin Judd of West Milton, Ohio, a senior at Milton Union High School, on Jan. 13 signed a letter of intent to play college tennis for the Red Wolves starting with the 2010-11 season.
Sherer said Judd will contend for a spot in the top half of the IU East lineup."He not only has the will to win, but also has the will to prepare to win," Sherer said. "Hopefully he will be a positive example for others on the team."
Judd plays No. 1 doubles for Milton Union. He has been an all-conference honorable mention performer. He received Milton Union team awards for most improved player and most spirited player.
"He has a powerful first serve, great stamina and endurance, and great knowledge of singles and doubles," Sherer said. "He is able to control the net at will."
Judd also has received a Presidential Excellence Award, a nationwide scholastic honor.
"He is a good student and a good young man," Sherer said.
Judd plans to major in business.
"I chose IU East because of the small campus size, and because Coach Sherer has been an influential coach that I have known for a while," Judd said.
Judd is the son of Ron and Pam Judd.
The IU East men's tennis program opens its inaugural season March 6 at Indiana University Southeast.
