CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Red Wolves couldn't keep pace with one of the highest-scoring teams in the NAIA.

The Indiana University East men's basketball team fell 120-113 at Cincinnati Christian University on Jan. 26 in a Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest.

"Toward the end of the game I asked Coach (Dominic) Tharpe what we could do next time to stop these guys, and there's nothing we can change. It's 'want-to,'" said IU East coach Mark Hester.

"We've got to find the 'want-to' in us and start playing, because we didn't put a lot of pride or effort into our work tonight."

IU East fell to 11-9 overall and 3-3 in the KIAC. CCU is 12-9 overall and 2-3 in the KIAC.

IU East's last lead was at 66-64 with 16:45 remaining. CCU would lead by as much as 15 in the second half.

The Red Wolves got within four twice in the last minute, but no closer.

The difference: CCU shot 54 percent from the field in the second half.

"We knew it was going to be a shootout and it was going to be a matter of if we made stops and played team defense," said sophomore forward Devon Niehoff (Rushville, Ind./Rushville High School). "And we didn't do that."

"We never gave up, but we had mental lapses that hurt us."

Junior guard Tyler Rigby scored 30 points to lead five players in doubles figures for IU East. Rigby has scored at least 20 points in 10 consecutive games.

Senior forward Noah Douglas (Indianapolis, Ind./St. Joseph's College) had a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Joe Mendenhall scored 28 points to lead CCU, which came into the game ranked second in the NAIA Division II in points per game.

IU East hosts Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Berea College on Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. in the Richmond High School Tiernan Center.

An autograph session will be held after the game for Junior Red Wolves members.
