Four standout student-athletes joined the Indiana University East athletics family on March 6.
IU East volleyball coach Charlie Brown announced Paige Lay of Parkland College signed a letter of intent to play for the Red Wolves.
IU East cross country and distances coach Pam Mertz later in the day announced Richmond High School seniors Tyler Stigleman and Tiara Smith and Connersville High School senior Jasmine Frasher signed to participate in cross country and track and field at IU East.
All four student-athletes will join IU East's teams starting with the 2010-11 season.
Lay, a native of Bloomington/Normal, Ill, helped Parkland College finish third in the NJCAA national tournament the past two seasons.
She ranked among the nation's leaders in attack percentage and kills per set.
"Paige is the type of player who is the next step for IU East volleyball," said Red Wolves coach Charlie Brown. "She will help us make an impact at the next level.
"She has an understanding of what it takes to be at the national level, and will be a great fit with out current players and current team."
Frasher helped Connersville win conference cross country titles and sectional track and field championships during her time with the Spartans. She is the daughter of Kristy Frasher, who is a member of the staff at the IU East Bookstore.
Frasher and Smith both won mental attitude awards with their respective programs.
"Jasmine should be fighting it out to be one of our top runners," said Mertz. "And Tyler and Tiara are the type of runners you have to have in your lineup to have the depth you need to win meets."
