
GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Red Wolves got on the board for the first time.
Indiana University East's first-year women's track and field program posted a team score for the first time as an NAIA program April 3 with an 11th-place finish at the DePauw University Invitational.
The Red Wolves finished 11th on the strength of junior Vanessa Legg's eighth-place finish in the high jump.
Legg (Lynn, Ind./Randolph Southern High School) leaped 1.37 meters (about 4-6). Legg was eighth in a field of 13.
Manchester's Kailey Honn won the event with a jump of 1.65 meters (about 5-3).
Red Wolves sophomore Kait Ervin (West Alexandria, Ohio/Twin Valley South High School) made her season debut in the shot put and discus.
Ervin placed 10th out of 24 in the discus with a throw of 30.35 meters (about 99-6).
Vincennes University's Rachel Deloney won the event with a throw of 41.83 meters (137-3).
Ervin was 11th out of 18 in the shot put with a heave of 9.18 meters (about 30-1).
Deloney won the shot put with a throw of 12.14 meters (about 39-8).
Host DePauw won the team title.

Legg and Ervin are scheduled to represent IU East at the Little State meet April 9 and 10 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
