MARION, Ind. - Kait Ervin saved her best for last.

Ervin (West Alexandria, Ohio/Twin Valley South High School), a sophomore in the Indiana University East track and field program, finished 26th in a field of 42 in the discus on April 10 at the Little State Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Ervin tossed the discus a season-best 31.20 meters (102-4) on her final attempt.

"Kait did better than last week (the DePauw University Invitational) but she still thinks she could do better," said IU East athletic director Mark Hester, who accompanied IU East's athletes to the Little State meet.

Ervin fouled on her first attempt.

She made a conservative throw of 30.36 meters (about 99-7) on her second attempt, taking care to avoid fouling but still beating her best throw from the DePauw University Invitational.

Ervin uncorked her season-best throw on her final attempt.

She finished second in her flight on the strength of her final throw.

IU East finished 16th in the team standings on the strength of sophomore Vanessa Legg's tie for fourth place in the high jump on April 9.

The meet was open to all non-NCAA Division I track and field programs in Indiana.

IU East's track and field athletes will compete in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference meet at Berea College on April 24.
