The I-70 corridor served up another player for Indiana University East men's tennis program.
Jordan Hermenet, a recent New Castle Chrysler High School graduate, has signed a letter of intent to play tennis for IU East starting with the 2010-11 season.
IU East coach Mike Sherer announced the signing June 24.
All five members of IU East's 2010 men's tennis recruiting class reside within a few miles of I-70 on a 90-mile stretch of the highway. New Castle is 28 miles west of IU East on I-70.
Hermenet twice earned all-North Central Conference honors at New Castle. He was the New Castle area high school tennis Player of the Year after playing No. 1 singles for the Trojans during his senior year.
"He brings high school and tournament experience to our program," Sherer said. "He is going to be a very persistent player who will always be working to improve his game."
Hermenet moved up the New Castle lineup from No. 3 singles as a sophomore to No. 2 singles as a junior to No. 1 singles as a senior.
He says consistency is the strength of his game.
He chose to play tennis at IU East because he played tennis throughout high school and wanted to continue his tennis career.
Jordan is the son of Dave and Jill Hermenet. He plans to major in computer science.
Hermenet joins Justin Judd of West Milton, Ohio, Josh Morris of Hagerstown, Nick Grinstead of Greenfield and Anthony Gulley of New Castle in IU East's 2010 men's tennis recruiting class.
The new Red Wolves men's tennis program will begin play during the 2010-11 school year.
