RICHMOND, Ind. - Two all-Cross County Conference performers will reunite on the Indiana University East women's golf team.

Stacey Davis of New Paris, Ohio, and Cassie Hofacker of Pitsburg, Ohio, have signed letters of intent to play golf for Indiana University East.

Red Wolves coach Von Ebeling announced the signings July 20.

Davis and Hofacker both are preparing for their sophomore year at IU East. Both will join the IU East women's golf program as redshirt freshman.

"They competed together on the same courses at the high school level," Ebeling said. "My goal is for them to merge their talents on our team and show improvement as the fall season culminates."

Davis was fourth in the CCC meet as a senior at National Trail High School in 2008. Hofacker was 15th in the same meet as a senior at Franklin Monroe High School.

Both will balance a daily commute from Ohio, school, a job and golf.

Stacey is the daughter or Kevin and Kellie Davis.

She is a biology major with a chemistry minor. She hopes to attend medical school after completing her undergraduate studies.

"Golf is a lifelong sport so it seemed like a good idea to get golf practice and keep playing to make myself better for later in life," Davis said.

Davis says her chipping and putting are her strengths.

Cassie is the daughter of Joyce and Dave Hofacker.

She is a nursing major. She made the IU East Dean's List in the fall of 2009.

"I golfed in high school so I had experience," Hofacker said. "I found out there was someone on the golf team I graduated with and two others I knew, so it will be like a reunion."

Hofacker says her shots off the tee are her strength - though she doesn't use a driver.

"It's in my bag, but it just feels weird," she said. "I've tried it, but I don't care to use it."

The Red Wolves will compete in a short fall season in preparation for the regular season in the spring.

"An efficient August practice schedule is planned to get these athletes back in the swing of competition before our first event," Ebeling said.

Davis and Hofacker join Ashley Mullin of Richmond in IU East's 2010 women's golf recruiting class.
