Jordyn Sparks enjoys playing "every sport possible."
Indiana University East's women's golf program is glad she picked golf.
Sparks, a 2009 Union County High School graduate, has signed a letter of intent to play golf for IU East.
Red Wolves coach Von Ebeling announced the signing July 26.
Sparks will join IU East as a redshirt freshman. She attended IUPUI during the 2009-10 school year.
Sparks helped Union County win the school's only girls golf sectional championship in 2006.
She advanced to the IHSAA regional as an individual one year later.
She was an all-conference selection as a senior.
She considers her drives to be the strength of her game.
Sparks' career-best scores are 38 for nine holes and 89 for 18 holes. She calls her nine-hole round of 38 her career highlight.
Jordyn is the daughter of Jeff and Janet Sparks. She decided to join the Red Wolves program after hearing about IU East's golf team from her mother.
"I just really wanted to play golf," she said.
Sparks joins Ashley Mullin (Richmond, Ind.), Cassie Hofacker (Pitsburg, Ohio), Stacey Davis (New Paris, Ohio) and Meredith Craig (Mentone, Ind.) in IU East's 2010 women's golf recruiting class.
Sparks has no connection to the American Idol winner of the identical-sounding name.
The Red Wolves will compete in a short fall season in preparation for the regular season in the spring.
