Austin Chisolm, an Indianapolis native, has signed a letter of intent to play for the Indiana University East men's basketball developmental squad.
Red Wolves developmental squad coach Von Ebeling announced the signing Aug. 30.
Chisolm is a 6-2 forward. He helped Thomas Carr Howe Community High School win an Indiana Class 3A boys basketball sectional title in 2007, the school's first since it rejoined the IHSAA in 2003.
"Austin is a strong, physical presence whose jumping ability and anticipation will help our team rack up more rebounds and blocks," Ebeling said.
"His ability to get to the rim with the ball will help us offensively."
Austin is the son of Shanel Mani and James Chisolm.
"I chose IU East to try something new," Chisolm said.
IU East's developmental basketball squad competed in its first season during the 2009-10 school year.
The program was added to give additional student-athletes an opportunity to play basketball at the college level and to develop potential varsity players.
Micah Hickman (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton High School), Jordan Struewing (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton High School), Shawn Austin (Jeffersonville, Ind./Rock Creek Christian Academy), Chris Young (Fishers, Ind./Horizon Christian High School), Terrell Johnson (Cincinnati, Ohio), Darryle Sims (Indianapolis, Ind./Arsenal Technial High School) and Stephen Jones (Muncie, Ind./Cowan High School) also have signed to play for the developmental squad.
