KENDALLVILLE, Ind. - The Red Wolves enjoyed much more success on this opening day at the University of St. Francis Invitational.

IU East finished with a team score of 330 on the 6,863-yard, par 72 layout at Cobblestone Golf Course.

The Red Wolves' score is 83 strokes better than their score on the opening day of the University of St. Francis Invitational in 2009.

IU East is in 11th place out of 12 teams. Indiana Institute of Technology is in first place with a 288.

Freshman Wes Drees (Versailles, Ohio/Versailles High School) led IU East with a 78 as is tied for 33rd place.

Senior Nick Ary (Brookville, Ohio/Brookville High School) carded an 81 and is tied for 52nd.

Sophomore Derrick McNeely (Connersville, Ind./Connersville High School) shot 82 and is tied for 57th. His score was better than any of his 18-hole rounds from the 2010 spring season.

Sophomore Zack Palmer (Richmond, Ind./Richmond High School) finished with an 89 and is tied for 79th.

Sophomore Brandon Loomis (Union City, Ind./Union City Community High School) rounded out the lineup with a 92 and is tied for 81st.

Indiana Tech's Cleo Trumbell shot 70 for the individual lead.

The tournament concludes today with a the final round at Noble Hawk Golf Links in Kendallville.

IU East's golf teams compete in short fall seasons in preparation for the regular season in the spring.
