The first Indiana University East women's golf weekend concluded with a
sweet 16th.
Courtney Barlage (Versailles, Ohio/Versailles High School) placed 16th out of 38 competitors in the University of Northwestern Ohio Racer Invitational.
Barlage is the first Red Wolves women's golfer to take part in an intercollegiate competition. Barlage finished the 36-hole tournament with a score of 173.
She followed up an 87 in the opening round Aug. 28 with an 86 on Aug. 29.
Kim Smith of team champion Walsh won the event with a 7-over score of 151 on the 5,281-yard layout at Hawthorne Hills Golf Club.
Barlage had the best score of any entrant not affiliated with a full team.
The Red Wolves hit the links again Sept. 19 at the Manchester College Fall Golf Invitational. More IU East players are expected to be available for the Manchester meet.
