Indiana University East's cheer squad coach Marcy Crull and dance team coach Jenny Fralick have announced tryout information for the 2010-11 school year.

CHEER SQUAD

Tryouts for the 2010-11 IU East cheer squad will be held Saturday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m.

Prospective cheer squad members also must attend a mandatory tryout clinic Friday, Sept. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Female students must wear black shorts, black or red sports bra or tank top, athletic shoes and white socks. Hair should be in a ponytail or sides up.

Male students must wear black shorts, a white or IU East t-shirt, athletic shoes and white socks.

Female students will be judged on spirit, appearance, jumps, a taught cheer and sideline chant, a taught dance and tumbling skills. Stunting skills may also be judged. A toe touch is required. Ability to perform a standing back handspring and a tumbling pass are preferred.

Male students will be judged on spirit, appearance, sideline chant, tumbling skills and stunting skills.

An individual's potential to perform these skills will be evaluated.

Application, cheer squad agreement and physical form are due by Thursday Sept. 16.

DANCE TEAM

Dance team tryout clinics will be held Thursday, Sept. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Final tryouts will be Saturday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m.

Skills to be performed at auditions include, but are not limited to, a jazz/stylized routine, a hip-hop/funk routine, double turn, leaps and a toe touch.

The routines will be taught at the clinics. The double turn, leaps and toe touch will be demonstrated.

All persons interested in trying out for the 2010-2011 Indiana University East Dance Team must fill out an application and selection agreement have a physical completed no later than September 3:
