The Indiana University East women's golf program fired a solid first shot.
IU East golfer Courtney Barlage (Versailles, Ohio/Versailles High School) shot an 87 on Aug. 28 and is in 15th place in a 38-golfer field at the University of Northwestern Ohio Racer Invitational.
Barlage is the first women's golfer to represent the first-year Red Wolves program in an intercollegiate event.
Barlage shot a 46 on the front nine and a 41 on the back nine on the par-72 course.
Kim Smith of Walsh led after round 1 with a 72. The 36-hole tournament concludes Aug. 29.
