[Track and Field] Cross country/track and field programs welcome runners to the pack

The Indiana University East cross country and track and field programs picked up some strikes, some spares, and three new student-athletes during a bowling outing March 6 at Do-Re-Me Lanes in Richmond.

IU East cross country and distances coach Pam Mertz on March 6 announced Richmond High School seniors Tyler Stigleman and Tiara Smith and Connersville High School senior Jasmine Frasher have signed letters of intent to compete for the Red Wolves starting with the 2010-11 school year.

The Red Wolves have connections to two of the teams headed to the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship.

IU East played against Oregon Tech and Indiana University Southeast, who both qualified the 32-team field that will assemble March 10-16 in Point Lookout, Mo.

Indiana University East holds fourth place in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Commissioner's Cup standings at the conclusion of the winter sports season, the conference announced March 2.

The Commissioner's Cup is the KIAC's all-sports trophy.

The Red Wolves got good news during the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament after all.

Indiana University East men's basketball junior Tyler Rigby (Bryant, Ind./Jay County High School) was named to the All-KIAC team, the league announced Feb. 26 during the KIAC Tournament semifinals.

Richmond area tennis enthusiasts will see a familiar face at the top of the first Indiana University East men's tennis lineup.

Pete Chimenti, a former No. 1 singles player at Richmond High School, on Feb. 26 signed a letter of intent to play for the Red Wolves' men's tennis team this spring.

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Red Wolves never wanted to get a win against one of the nation's top teams this way, but they'll certainly take it.

The Indiana University East men's basketball team concluded its regular season with an 88-72 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win against a shorthanded Indiana University Southeast team on Feb. 20 in the Richmond High School Tiernan Center.
