Men's Basketball: Dordt 96, IU East 85

ORANGE CITY, Iowa - The Indiana University East men's basketball team closed out the Pizza Ranch Classic as the Red Wolves fell 96-85 to Dordt University on Saturday, Nov. 12.

IU East is now 2-2 with Dordt remaining unbeaten at 5-0.

Jake Johnson topped the Red Wolves with 19 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

Colt Meyer also tossed in 19 points, while Tobey Billups and Lorenzo Lewis finished with 10 each.

The game was tied several times early in the contest before the Defenders gained an edge to take the lead.

However, the Red Wolves fought back to tie it when Johnson was fouled as he converted a 3-pointer. He made the free throw to make it 31-31 with 3:53 left in the first half.

Dordt ended the period with a 14-6 run to lead 45-37 at the intermission.

In the second half, built a 73-58 advantage before the Red Wolves rallied to close the gap.

Johnson hit a pair of free throws to get IU East to within 83-80 at the 2:54 mark before the Defenders were able to hold off the Red Wolves.

The Red Wolves are back in action at IU Kokomo on Tuesday, Nov. 15. IU East's River States Conference opener gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
