ORANGE CITY, Iowa - The Indiana University East men's basketball team opened the Pizza Ranch Classic with a 101-73 loss to Northwestern College on Friday, Nov. 11.
IU East is now 2-1, while Northwestern is also 2-1.
The contest was tied with 14:18 left in the first half as Tobey Billups drilled a 3-pointer to make it 10-10.
However, the Red Raiders answered with eight straight points on their home floor to build an 18-10 advantage on the way to a 44-24 lead by halftime.
Billups led IU East with 20 points, while Jamisen Smith finished with 14 points and Kobe Ward tossed in a dozen.
Ward ended the night with a double-double as he grabbed 11 rebounds.
The Red Wolves finish the event against Dordt University of Iowa in the first game on Saturday at 2 p.m. (IU East time). The Defenders are 4-0 after beating Viterbo University of Wisconsin 114-65.
