OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – Jake Johnson's game-high 25 points and Colt Meyer's 16 paced the Red Wolves with a 69-61 win over Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg.
The win gives IUE an 8-6 overall record.
Johnson started the scoring off in the game as both teams went almost two minutes without a field goal. His 3-pointer gave the Red Wolves their only lead of the first half. The Pioneers would rattle off 16 of the next 18 points scored for a 16-5 lead. Trailing by nine points withs 1:20 left in the half, Johnson scored the last five points to trim their deficit down to four heading into the break.
With 9:10 to play in the game, the Red Wolves regained the lead for the first time since the opening bucket. Meyer's 3-pointer gave IUE a short-lived 48-47 lead. The Pioneers regained the lead but both teams would exchange that honor four times in a span of four minutes.
Jamisen Smith went back-to-back with Meyer on 3-pointers that gave the lead for good. They ended the game on an 11-4 run in the last 3:28.
The Red Wolves will host No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan on Lingle Court Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
