Men's Basketball IU East 84, Oakland City 72

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East men's basketball team had four players in double figures as the Red Wolves defeated Oakland City University 97-82 on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

Jake Johnson finished with a season-high 34 points with eight rebounds for the Red Wolves in the River States Conference affair in the Johnson Center.

IU East is now 13-12 overall and 7-8 in the conference, while Oakland City falls to 8-17, 2-11.

With the win, the Red Wolves evened the season series against Oakland City at 1-1. The Mighty Oaks won 120-115 in double overtime on Lingle Court earlier this season.

Colt Meyer added 21 points for IU East with Bryce Long tossing in 20 points. Jamisen Smith contributed 13 points for the Red Wolves with seven rebounds.

Although both teams led in the opening half, Oakland City finished with a 49-46 advantage by the intermission.

At the 16:06 mark in the second half, Johnson scored to put IU East on top 57-55. Oakland City tied the game three times from that point, but IU East would never trail the rest of the way as the Red Wolves would grow their margin to double digits.

The Red Wolves return home to entertain Brescia University on Saturday, Feb. 11. The RSC contest gets underway at 3 p.m.
