Men's Basketball: Shawnee State 91, IU East 78
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - The Indiana University East men's basketball team fell 91-78 in a River States Conference battle at Shawnee State University on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
The Red Wolves are now 6-11 with a 2-4 mark in the conference, while the Bears ended the night at 12-5, 7-1.
Jake Johnson topped the Red Wolves with a game-high 26 points.
Colt Meyer added 16 points as Ibra Athie finished with nine points and a team-high six rebounds.
Early in the affair the Red Wolves led 9-2 after Johnson nailed a 3-pointer at the 18:37 mark of the opening period in Waller Gymnasium.
During the remainder of the half the game was tied four times as the Bears went into the intermission with a 42-40 advantage.
Johnson put IU East on top 53-52 with 14:35 to go in the second frame. From that point, Shawnee State scored 11 straight to take the lead for good.
IU East remains in the road for its next contest as the Red Wolves visit Point Park University on Saturday, Jan. 20. The league affair begins at 3 p.m.
