Men's Basketball: IU Southeast 96, IU East 86

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The Indiana University East men's basketball team dropped a 96-86 contest at IU Southeast on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

IU East is now 7-14 overall and 3-7 in the River States Conference. IU Southeast is 9-11 and 5-7.

Ibra Athie scored a season-high 32 points for the Red Wolves. Athie grabbed 18 rebounds for the second time this season. He also had 18 at home against IU Kokomo on Nov. 29. 

Devon Woods was next for IU East with 16 points. Colt Meyer tossed in 14, while Antuane Allen finished with 12.

In the first half, IU East trailed by 11 points on four occasions before ending the period with a 9-2 run as the Grenadiers led 35-31 at the intermission.

Athie made the second of two free throws to cut IU East's deficit to 46-45 with 14:21 remaining. IU Southeast was able to hold off the Red Wolves the rest of the way.

Jocobi Hendricks had 40 points for IU Southeast.

The Red Wolves return home to entertain Midway University on Saturday, Feb. 3. The second game of a RSC doubleheader with the Eagles on Lingle Court begins at 3 p.m.
