Men's Basketball: Rio Grande 79, IU East 74

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East men's basketball team fell 79-74 to the University of Rio Grande on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

IU East is 9-10 overall and 1-6 in the River States Conference, while Rio Grande is 9-10 and 4-3.

Jeremiah Landers led IU East with 25 points in the contest on Lingle Court.

Tobey Billups tossed in 13 points for the Red Wolves as Kyle Tolbert added 11 points. Mikey Johnson finished with 10 points.

Rio Grande worked to a 48-36 advantage by halftime.

In the second half, the Red Wolves closed the gap to three points on several occasions with the final time coming at 71-68 when Billups scored with 3:35 remaining.

The Red Wolves are back in action at Brescia University on Saturday, Jan. 24. The league affair gets underway at 4 p.m. (IU East time).
