Men's Golf: IU East at Heritage Hill Collegiate Day 2 Recap
SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. - The Indiana University East men's golf team finished fifth in the 54-hole Heritage Hill Collegiate on Sunday, March 26.
IU East posted a team score of 313-309-294-916 on the Heritage Hill Golf Club course, while host school Lawrence Tech University won the 11-team event with a 289-292-279-860.
"We had an excellent first competitive event from all six of our guys," IU East coach Jeff Williams said. "There were incredibly tough conditions with the wind and rain on day one, but we hung in and improved each round. "Today's round of 294 was an outstanding score to build on moving forward."
Jake Miller earned a spot on the all-tournament team as he tied for third with a 76-72-69-217. Liam McEvoy of Lawrence Tech was the medalist with a 67-76-65-208.
"I'm really happy with how the team played today especially with two freshman and two sophomores in the line-up," Miller said. "For our first tournament of the year, it was a solid showing from the team especially in the third round."
"I'm also happy about my bounce back I had today after yesterday," Miller continued. "I played the 25 holes today we had a 5-under par, so I'm going to carry that momentum the rest of this spring."
Sam Firebaugh followed Miller for the Red Wolves as he tied for 32nd with an 80-79-75-234. Austin Shelley was next with an 80-80-75-235 to tie for 34th.
