Men's Golf: Midway University Eagle Invitational Day 2 Recap
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Indiana University East men's golf team finished seventh in the Midway University Eagle Invitational on April 4.
The Red Wolves posted a team score of 299-308-607 on the Big Blue Course at the University Club of Kentucky.
"Our scores don't indicate how well we played today," IU East coach Jeff Williams said. "Everyone struggled to stay away from big number on a couple holes."
Jake Miller led the Red Wolves as he finished seventh with a 72-76-148.
The other scores for the Red Wolves were Emiliano Tercero 74-77-151, (T14th), Sam Firebaugh 75-77-152 (T16th), Austin Shelley 79-78-157 (T37th), Alex Beatty 78-79-157 (T37th), Bailey Moistner 79-85-164 (48th) and Sam Roberts 84-81-165 (49th).
Indiana Wesleyan University's Kyle Sanders was the medalist with a 74-68-142 as he led the Knights to the title with a 293-293-586.
IU East returns to action in the River States Conference Championships on April 16-18. The three-day affair is at the Belterra Resort Course in Florence, Ind.
"The play of our two freshmen, Sam and Alex, has put us in position to make a serious run at the upcoming conference championship," Williams said. "It will take a great effort, but we like our chances."
