Men's Golf: RSC Championships Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East men's golf team is ready to take on the challenge of the River States Conference Championships on April 16-18. 

"I don't think there's anything Mother Nature or this golf course can throw at us that we can't handle," IU East coach Jeff Williams said.

IU East finished second a year ago behind Midway University.

"We've been a perennial contender, so now let's see if we're good enough to win it," Williams said. "It's a very strong field, but I like our chances."

The 54-hole event over three days is at the Belterra Resort in Florence, Ind.

IU East's Alex Beatty his first up for the Red Wolves with a noon tee time. Other tee times for the Red Wolves are Austin Shelley (12:10 p.m.), Emiliano Tercero (12:20 p.m.), Sam Firebaugh (12:30 p.m.) and Jake Miller (12:40 p.m.)

The team champion and the individual medalist advance to the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship will be on May 16-19 at the Las Sendas Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.

* Miller was the RSC Golfer of the Year in 2022.

* IU East had team score of 923 over the three days to finish second last spring, while Midway claimed the title with a score of 898.

* In September of 2022, Miller was the medalist in the RSC Fall Preview at Belterra.

* The other scores from last fall's event for the Red Wolves were Shelley (78-78-156, 9th), Firebaugh (81-78-159, 13th), Tercero (82-81-163, 18th), Conrad Emmons (86-81-167, 30th) and Sam Roberts (81-88-169, 37th).
