Men's Golf: Earlham Spring Invitational Day 2 Recap
RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East men's golf team finished the season with a victory at the Earlham College Spring Invitational on Monday, April 24.
The Red Wolves had a two-day score of 305-300-605 at the Elks Country Club. Earham was second with a total of 610, while Franklin College was third at 613.
"I'm so happy for the guys and their performance this weekend," IU East coach Jeff Williams said. "This win is a well-deserved positive note to end the season."
Sam Firebaugh made the all-tournament squad for the Red Wolves with his second-place finish at 74-73-147. Jacob Paine of Franklin was the medalist with a 71-73-144.
"Sam took a major step forward with his runner-up finish and to have four in the top ten is an awesome accomplishment," Williams said.
IU East's Jake Miller 78-75-153, Austin Shelley 75-78-153 and Emiliano Tercero 78-75-153 all were tied for ninth on the leaderboard. Bailey Moistner was 19th at 83-77-160.
The second team for the Red Wolves posted a score of 327-319-646 to finish seventh of nine squads as Alex Beatty led the way with a 82-75-157 to finish 14th.
The other scores for IU East were Mason Hahn (T22nd, 81-80-161), Kyle Maki (T27th, 83-80-163), Sam Roberts (T33rd, 81-85-166), Mark Byerly (T36th, 84-84-168) and Zachary Jewell (46th, 90-89-179).
