Men's Golf: LTU Blue Devils Classic Recap

WEST BRANCH, Mich. - The Indiana University East men's golf team ended its fall season finishing third out of 10 squads at the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils Invitational on Oct. 10.

IU East finished with a three-round team score of 315-309-309-933 as the Red Wolves followed Lawrence Tech University 308-291-301-899 and the University of Rio Grande 318-303-303-926.

"Although the weather wasn't the best, to end the fall at a couple outstanding venues in one trip was cool experience," IU East coach Jeff Williams said.

Monday’s two rounds were played at The Nightmare Golf Course, while the last day was at The Dream Golf Course.

Jake Miller led IU East in the two-day event after Tuesday's final round for a total of 79-73-79-231 to finish in a tie for eighth.

The other scores for the Red Wolves were Austin Shelley (78-77-77-232, 11th), Will Barnes (76-81-76-234, 12th), Emiliano Tererco (81-78-77-236, T13th) and Sam Firebaugh (83-85-81-249, T34th).

Riley Bratton (80-82-80-242, T22nd) played the tournament as an individual.

"It was a season where we took several steps forward to becoming a team capable of being squarely in the mix for the River States Conference title," Williams said.

Prior to this event, IU East finished first in its last two tournaments. The Red Wolves won the Delaware Country Club Shootout and followed that with a one-hole playoff victory over Rio Grande for the championship at the RSC Fall Preview.
