Tennis Players Honored on Senior Day

RICHMOND, Ind. - It was Senior Day for the Indiana University East tennis teams as Francisco Faundez and Matthew Nel were recognized on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

The Red Wolves finished the fall against Cedarville University on the Kyle Tom Courts in Glen Miller Park.

Cedarville won the women's match 4-3, while the Yellow Jackets took the men's contest 6-1.

IU East women's squad is 2-2, while the men are 1-2. Cedarville's men are 6-1 and the women are 5-2.

In the women's match, the Red Wolves began the day by winning the doubles point.

Amonette Theron and Laura Billing defeated Calista Bobula and Delia Guzic 6-3 at No. 2, while Brooke Schafstall and Gracie Helms won 6-4 over Susannah Prince and Molly Filpus at No. 3.

Eva Caballero and Theron won in singles. Caballero beat Abby Totten 7-5, 7-5 at No. 2. Theron outlasted Guzic 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 at No. 3.

Faundez picked up the men's victory at No. 1 singles over Nathan Hollis with a 6-7 (7-4), 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) win ending with a super tiebreaker in his final match with the Red Wolves.
