Indoor Track: IU East Friday Recap

RICHMOND, Ind. - Three athletes from the Indiana University East indoor track and field teams posted NAIA national qualifying times as the Red Wolves competed in two difference meets on Friday, Jan. 30.

Cameron Nocton and Sarah Perry each hit qualifying marks as they both won their respective 3,000-meter racewalks at the Olivet Nazarene University Invitational. Nocton posted the third best men's time in the NAIA this season with a 13:08.51, which was an "A" Standard. Perry reached the women's "B" Standard as she has the 10th fastest time in the NAIA at 17:58.79.

Kayci Hill finished second in the women's 1,000 meters with a school record time of 3:00.09 that also converts to a "B" Standard in that event. Hill also added a another second place finish in the 800 meters at 2:24.20. The 2026 NAIA National Indoor Championships are March 5-7 in Gainesville, Fla.

In addition to Nocton and Perry's victories, Thomas Hogan grabbed first in the men's 3,000 meters with a school record time of 8:50.83, while Richard Bower was second in the race with an 8:51.82, which also surpassed the old mark.

Emilie Earl led IU East in the Joe Banks Invitational at Ohio Northern University. She was third in the women's pole vault (3.38m, school record), weight throw (13.98m) and shot put (12.04m).

On the men's side, Tristan Thomas was third in the 60 meters with time of 6.97 seconds. Brody Puckett was also third in the men's 400 with a 51.40. Carson Shepherd tied his school record of 4.17 meters in the pole vault as he finished fifth.
