Bio

Dr. Chris Buckler joined the Indiana University East track and field coaching staff in August 2021.

Buckler is familiar with the region as a Middletown, Ohio, resident and a graduate of Connersville (Ind.) High School.

Buckler is the track and field head coach at Bishop Fenwick High School in Franklin, Ohio. He previously served as the head track and field and cross country coach at Fontbonne University in Saint Louis. He has been part of the track and field coaching staffs at Wright State University, the University of Southern Indiana, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Marietta College and Cincinnati Christian University.

He holds USATF Level 2 certification (Endurance and Throws) and USTFCCCA certification in Throws, Meet Management and Head Coaching.

Buckler competed in football and track and field at NCAA Division I Miami University (Ohio), where he earned bachelor's degrees in business and education. He earned a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Alabama. He completed his Juris Doctor at Marquette University Law School.

Buckler continues to compete in track and field. His resume includes eight national titles and nine international medals in throwing events. His children also have earned All-America honors in track and field throwing events.

Chris and his wife, Ami, have had three children - Paden, Brendan, and the late Rylee Buckler.

The Buckler family attends Incarnation Catholic Parish in Centerville, Ohio.
