Outdoor Track: IU East at Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational Day 3 Recap
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - There were a pair of school records established as the Indiana University East track and field teams wrapped up the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational on Saturday, March 21.
The first new standard came from Hunter Allen as he finished second in the men's mile with a time of 4:15.72.
Later in the final day at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium, Vanessa Temple surpassed her own mark in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.11 to finish seventh.
Thomas Hogan established a freshman record in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:45.21. Conner Walser (9:56.21, 7th) and Richard Bower (9:56.53, 8th) were just behind Hogan.
There were three others to finish in the top eight in their events.
Akot Tong was sixth in the men's mile (4:21.53) and he was followed by Gavin Ashby (4:28.58) in eighth. Lily Hart was seventh in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at 13:22.61.
The Red Wolves will take part in two meets next week. The race walkers will be at the Marian University Knight Open on Friday, March 27. IU East competes in the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open at Cedarville University on Saturday, March 28.
