Outdoor Track: Red Wolves Post National Qualifying Standards

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana University East track and field teams had a pair of athletes qualify for the NAIA National Outdoor Championships at the Marian University Knight Open on Friday, March 27.

Cameron Nocton hit the National "A" Standard in the men's 5,000-meter race walk at Ascension St. Vincent Field with a time of 21:20.20 as he finished in third behind Lucien Beardsley (20:17.91) and Cole Bennett (20:18.01) from the University of Cumberlands.

IU East's Vance Dougherty finished eighth in the race walk with a time of 24:44.92, which is an NAIA "B" Standard.

In the women's race walk, Sarah Perry just missed the "B" Standard time of 29:51.00 as she posted a 29:54.52 to finish in fourth. Makenzee Kahn was fifth with a time of 32:22.14.

This year's NAIA National Outdoor Championships are scheduled for May 20-22 in Asheville, N.C.

The other Red Wolves will be in action at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open at Cedarville University on Saturday, March 28. The meet starts at 10 a.m.
