Outdoor Track: IU East at Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - School records fell as the Indiana University East track and field teams competed at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open at Cedarville University on Saturday, March 28.

On the track, Kayci Hill's 4:49.89 in the women's 1,500 meters was a new standard as she finished 11th. Hunter Allen set a freshman mark of 15:05.37 to finish third in the men's 5,000 meters.

Emilee Earl's distance of 40.84 meters in the women's discus was also an IU East record that put her in sixth.

Tristan Thomas scored in two events as he anchored the men's 400-meter relay squad that included Antaviyon Reed, Jaiden Crowell and Miguel Mendez Jr. The group posted a time of 42.28 seconds to finish behind two teams from Ashland University.

Thomas followed that effort by winning his heat in the 100-meter dash in 10.97 seconds, which put him in fifth overall in the event that featured 14 races.

Akot Tong also scored in two events by finishing second in the men's 800 meters with a 1:56.64. Tong ran the second leg of the 1,600-meter relay that capped the night as Conner Walser, Max Kline and Beck Wilson finished eighth in 3:31.88.

Also running in the 5,000 meters with Allen was Thomas Hogan (15:06.90, fourth) and Richard Bower (15:10.49, fifth).

The Red Wolves will be competing in the Wilmington College Open Invite on Friday and Saturday, April 3-4.
