Outdoor Track: IU East Weekend Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East track and field teams take part in the JennaStrong Track & Field Invitational at Wilmington College this weekend.

The action starts on Friday, April 3. The javelin and hammer both begin at the Beckett Track & Field Facility in Williams Stadium at 3 p.m. Races on the track get underway at 4 p.m.

Saturday's field events are at 11 a.m. The 400-meter relay opens the track activity at 1 p.m.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

* Cameron Nocton and Vance Dougherty both posted national qualifying times in the men's 5,000-meter race walk at the Marian University Knight Open on Friday, March 27. Nocton's NAIA "A" Standard was 21:20.20, while Dougherty's time of 24:44.92 surpassed the "B" Standard.

* There were also two IU East records established last week at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open at Cedarville University.

* Kayci Hill set a new mark in the women's 1,500 meters at 4:49.89 as Emilee Earl's 40.84 meters is now on the books in the women's discus.

* The River States Conference Outdoor Championships will be at the University of Rio Grande on May 1-2.

* The NAIA National Outdoor Championships are scheduled for May 20-22 in Asheville, N.C.
